Law firm makes partner promotion ahead of Birmingham move

Law firm DLA Piper has announced a partner promotion ahead of its move to Birmingham’s Two Chamberlain Square later this year.

Robert Newman has been made up to partner. He joined DLA Piper in 2014 and his practice focuses on equity capital markets, regularly advising clients on IPOs, secondary fundraisings, compliance and ESG issues.

He advises on domestic and cross-border M&A, private equity and venture capital/VC investments, corporate reorganisations and joint ventures.

In addition, Newman heads up the life sciences sector in Birmingham and is a member of the London Stock Exchange’s Midlands Regional Advisory Group.

Birmingham managing partner Trevor Ivory said: “Our corporate team has long been a powerhouse of our Birmingham office and we see significant growth in the team over the coming years.

“Therefore, I am delighted to announce that Robert Newman has been promoted to partner.”

The firm has also announced the promotion six of its Birmingham-based lawyers to the positions of legal director and senior associate. The newly promoted lawyers are: Chloe Barker (global trade and government affairs), Deborah Brown (restructuring) and Gemma Lawrence (finance) (all legal directors) and Daniel Cowley (technology), Laura Howard (finance) and Amber Nixon (real estate) (all senior associates).
