People: Property consultancy makes partner hire; Estate manager boosts finance team

Black Country commercial property consultancy Bulleys has promoted one of its original graduate recruits to partner.

James Bird has become a partner having been with the firm for almost 14 years.

He joined the firm as a graduate surveyor with a degree in real estate straight from the University of Central England (now Birmingham City University) in 2006.

A qualified surveyor of the RICS since 2008, he has worked his way up through the ranks from graduate surveyor, through to senior associate and now partner.

Bulleys, established in 1965, is represented with offices in Wolverhampton and Oldbury and Telford.

An accountant has been recruited to the finance team at Principle Estate Management to support the company’s expansion.

Haq Nawaz’s new role as service charge accountant was created after the number of developments the Birmingham-based company is looking after reached more than 200.

Nawaz has nearly 20 years of experience working in finance for a variety of property companies, the most recent being as a senior finance officer at Sanctuary Housing.

At Principle he will be working on clients’ accounts, dealing with service charge budgets, invoicing for rents insurance and service charges, handling sales and purchase ledgers and credit controls, and finalising annual service charge accounts.

Paul Richardson, the finance manager at Principle, said: said: “We’re delighted to have appointed Haq to our expanding finance team, which is the engine room of property management.

“We’ve been looking for the right person and are pleased to have found Haq as he has the in-depth knowledge that we need.

“Adding Haq’s skills to our team will allow our property management personnel to be comforted that we can provide the highest standard of service to our customers.”

Nawaz said: “I have been aware of Principle for some time and am delighted to take up the opportunity of being part of this dynamic team.
