Local mortgage adviser Rob scoops national award

A Shrewsbury-based mortgage adviser has received major recognition at the Mortgage Advice Bureau national awards.

Rob Brookes, who is sales and business development director at MLM Financial, was crowned ‘Best Adviser Mortgage & Protection’ as part of the virtual awards ceremony, otherwise known as “The MABs”.

This year, Mortgage Advice Bureau (MAB) hosted its annual conference and awards virtually via its new internal communications platform.

The awards are presented to those individuals who have gone the extra mile in their role over the last year and demonstrated an outstanding commitment to their customers.

The conference is held every year and normally attracts over 1,000 delegates from all corners of the UK including lenders, advisers and suppliers to the mortgage industry – all of whom exhibit, share insight and network.

This year also marks the firm’s 20th year in business, however, like most events in recent times, due to coronavirus, plans shifted to an online-only format.

Speaking about the recognition, Rob said: “Right now, with so much uncertainty in the economy it is vital that the professional sector is as proactive as possible with their advice whilst paying close attention to both the market and more crucially, our customers.’’

“It’s been an extremely difficult period for everyone in the local community during the Coronavirus outbreak and it’s great to still be able to take part in the MAB Conference, albeit digitally. This award is some nice news and certainly lifts spirits, and I’d like to thank my amazing team for all their support.’’
