Manufacturing heavyweight joins board of automotive components manufacturer

Manufacturing heavyweight Nick Sanders has joined the board of Coleshill-headquartered automotive components manufacturer Sertec Group.

His role will be to work with CEO Grant Adams to deliver the business’ growth strategy and continue its expansion across Europe.

Sanders brings a strong track record from a number of leadership roles in the aerospace manufacturing industry, including the CEO of CompAir Inc and more recently as chair of Gardner Aerospace.

He succeeds Mike Baunton who has been non-executive chair for the group since 2016.

Grant Adams, CEO at Sertec said: “To have someone with the breadth and depth of Nick’s experience brings a new dimension to our board and business as Sertec looks to the future. In recent years, we’ve expanded our customer base and extended our geographical reach.  Our site in Hungary is perfectly placed for the mainland European market at the centre of an automotive manufacturing hub and we are also working on plans to open a Business Development and Marketing HQ in Germany over the next 12 months.

“We would like to thank [former chair] Mike Baunton for his commitment and valuable contribution to the shape of the business today. He leaves an organisation that has a clear strategic direction on how we will continue to build on this for the future.”

Sanders’ appointment is the result of an introduction from BGF’s Talent Network, which is the UK’s largest pool of non-executive directors.

Sanders added: “Sertec is a great company with a strong leadership team and supportive investment partners. Businesses across the world are facing significant challenges currently, but Sertec’s ongoing investment in new technologies and European expansion means it is best placed to respond to future market demand. I look forward to working with the team to realise these ambitions.”

In 2016, Sertec secured a £20m funding package from BGF, Lloyds and Santander to support its growth ambitions, all three have extended additional support to the group for the future.
