Property heavyweight leaves Savills for Opus Land role

Opus Land has made a senior addition to its team with the appointment of John Griffiths from Savills.

Griffiths has most recently headed up the Midlands development team for Savills. Prior to that, he was a founding director of niche agent GBR and has previously ran the JLL Birmingham office and headed up the agency team at CBRE.

He will join Opus Land in September.

With over 30 years of experience, he has been one of Birmingham’s highest profile office agents, although more recently his focus has been on mixed use development and regeneration.

At Opus Land, he will be focusing on mixed use and residential opportunities, including PRS and student accommodation. As part of the role, he will be seeking opportunities for Opus Land to collaborate with institutions, landowners and public sector agencies.

Griffiths said: “I have known the Opus Land team for many years and have worked closely on projects with them in the past. I am really excited to now have the opportunity to join them and work client side. 2020 is a real watershed year in so many ways, but Opus Land can continue to play a pivotal role in property investment and development across the Midlands and I’m thrilled to now be part of their story”.

Opus Land has offices in the West Midlands and London. Founded in 1999 and part owned and funded by Fiera Real Estate, the company works in partnership with landowners, investors and occupiers with assets under management and a development pipeline approaching 3 million sq. ft
