Administrators look to sell Birmingham Bio Power

An investment vehicle that owns a 10.3MW biomass-fired power plant in Tyesley is up for sale after slipping into administration.

Geoff Rowley and Tony Barrell of FRP Advisory were appointed joint administrators of Birmingham Bio Power Ltd on 11 June.

Following initial discussions with stakeholders, the administrators are currently evaluating the options available including a sale of the business as a going concern. The facility, operated by utility firm Engie, is currently not producing electricity, which FRP has been advised is a result of a reduction in local waste wood collection services during the lockdown.

A statement from FRP said: “The appointment of administrators has not affected the operations on site and the company does not have any employees.

“Further updates will be provided in due course.”
