Battery specialist scoops European electric vehicle contract

Stuart Browne

A Newcastle-under-Lyme firm has signed a new agreement to test, repair and replace lithium-ion batteries in electric vehicles (EV) across the UK and Europe.

With its German parent company and European subsidiaries, Hoppecke Industrial Batteries is partnering with CATL. The business is a leader in lithium-ion batteries for domestic and commercial electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

The company said the contract reinforces Hoppecke’s status as an independent energy storage expert for all battery technologies and a wide range of applications.

Stuart Browne, Hoppecke UK’s general manager, said: “We’re delighted to announce this new partnership, which will help to secure local jobs over the long term, and are proud to be making an important contribution to the turnaround in electric vehicle mobility across Europe.

“Our experienced engineers will play an important role supporting workshops, making reliable diagnoses and carrying out repairs, to ensure that vehicles are back on the road quickly and safely.”
