Workspace provider partners with comedian to host drive-in comedy roadshow

Flexible workspace provider BizSpace has partnered with comedian Tom Binns to launch a drive-in comedy roadshow in the car parks of some of its centres.

Binns, who has appeared on shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and on the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, has created a mobile stage.

Known as the Bus Stop Arena, his modified VW Campervan features a ‘silent’ PA, enabling the audience to listen at a distance via their mobile phones.

The show includes 90 minutes of comedy, with Binns supported by compere Nik Hill.

The audience can enjoy the performances while remaining socially distanced in their cars, although they can bring camping chairs if they wish to sit outside.

The roadshow will visit:
Solihull on 22 August
Hooton on 29 August
Altrincham on 5 September
Doncaster on 12 September
Hull on 19 September

Gareth Evans, BizSpace’s CEO, said: “At BizSpace we believe that work and fun can go hand in hand, so when we heard about Tom’s latest concept, we were keen to get behind it. A lot of our customers see BizSpace centres as not just a place to work but a place to collaborate, meet people, socialise and have fun, so hosting this comedy roadshow is our way of reverting to that while also maintaining the social distancing guidelines.”

Binns said: “As far as I’m aware, this is the world’s first purpose-built pop-up mobile comedy arena. We tested out the concept with a show at BizSpace Gloucester in July and there was a fabulous atmosphere – like a cross between a festival and a drive-in – so now we’re hitting the road, visiting BizSpace’s other centres up and down the country.”
