Decorating company lands biggest contract to date
Commercial decoration company Harvey UK has won the contract to carry out the decorating and finishing of one of the largest acute hospitals in the Midlands.
The work at the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital will be Harvey’s biggest ever contract.
Henley-in-Arden headquartered Harvey UK will decorate and finish more than 4,000 rooms at the £350m hospital, using specialist hygienic coatings and finishes. The contract is worth close to two million pounds.
The development is being carried out by contractors Balfour Beatty, which replaced the original contractors, the collapsed Carillion Group.
The 16-acre hospital in Grove Lane, Smethwick is being built for the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. It will be the biggest acute hospital in the region, providing maternity, accident and emergency and in-patient services to more than half a million people.
Due to open in 2022, the hospital will be equipped with some of the most advanced diagnostic technology available.
Harvey UK managing director Tony Harvey said: “This hospital is vital for the region and is set to be a leader in medical treatment and diagnostics. Our work involves specialist flooring and finishes and will draw on our experience in other large hospitals, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for which we have been supplying finishing services for the last 10 years.”
Harvey UK has also carried out work at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, the Royal London Hospital and the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge.
