Business advisory firm appoints director to lead Birmingham corporate finance team
Specialist business advisory firm FRP has appointed director Gary Hyem to lead its corporate finance team in Birmingham.
With 25 years’ deal making experience, Hyem has spent more than two decades supporting businesses across the Midlands and he joins from the corporate finance practice at Grant Thornton, where he was a director.
Throughout his career he has also held senior positions at Cattaneo Corporate Finance and Clearwater International, in addition to establishing and leading the Birmingham office of M3 Corporate Finance and five years working as a private equity investor.
Hyem specialises in advising companies, owner-managers and private equity-backed businesses and has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, management buyouts, strategic options reviews and raising finance for companies through development capital, acquisitions funding or working capital. He has led deals valued between £2m and £100m, supporting businesses across a broad range of sectors – from manufacturing, engineering and logistics to healthcare, business services and technology.
His appointment creates a five-strong corporate finance offering in the Midlands and he will work closely with director Harry Walker, who leads the firm’s corporate finance team in Leicester, as they drive the growth of the practice across the region.

Hyem’s appointment follows the announcement that FRP has acquired specialist corporate finance firm JDC Corporate Finance as it expands its national team with an on-the-ground presence in the East of England. The firm now has a team of more than 20 corporate finance specialists across the UK.
