Combined authority appoints media planning and buying agency

West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) has awarded BBJ&K, a Birmingham-based media planning and buying agency, a four year contract to drive forward its media strategy.

With the first campaign set to go live next month, the partnership will see BBJ&K deliver digital, print and radio advertising to broaden WMCA’s engagement with key audiences.

Established in 2016 by managing director Emma Baxter and media strategy director John Keane, the company specialises in media planning and buying across multiple sectors. BBJ&K has achieved considerable growth over the last four years, and now has a team of 16 people.

BBJ&K has delivered results for the likes of Arena Racing Group, Jewson, Worcester Warriors and the Football Index.

Baxter said: “This is such an important time for the region, with incredible opportunities on the horizon – including the arrival of the Commonwealth Games in 2022. We’re proud to have the opportunity to draw on our diverse skillset and create an impactful media strategy for WMCA as it delivers a programme of strategic projects and campaigns over the next four years.

“Whilst this year has undoubtedly been challenging, being recognised as the media planning and buying agency of the year at the UK Enterprise Awards and announcing our partnership with WMCA gives us a solid platform from which to bolster our team and ensure our continued growth.”

Sarah Wilson, strategic communications & marketing manager from WMCA added: “As part of the tender process, BBJ&K showed a real understating of what we need to deliver as a combined authority, helping us to achieve our goal of building a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands.

“With our first campaign starting next month, communicating clearly with the region that we serve is vital in ensuring that everyone is informed about the projects and campaigns that we are undertaking. We look forward to working with BBJ&K.”
