Entertainer launches virtual Christmas parties

A Solihull entertainer will be ‘Zooming’ into homes across the region after launching an online Christmas party service.

With UK still facing social distancing measures because of Covid-19 as Christmas approaches, Monty Gupwell is looking to bring some festive fun for families, friends and work colleagues with his interactive parties.

The 46-year-old, has teamed with one the country’s best stand-up comedians and an award-winning magician to create the Christmas Party, which also includes interactive games and a karaoke finale.

Gupwell had online success in the first lockdown as he taught more than 1,000 people to juggle including ITV’s Ben Shepherd and his family.

Gupwell said: “Given the realities imposed on us all this year, the only way families, friends and work colleagues are going to be able to have some real Christmas fun is to have an online party.

“With social distancing still in place and families, friends and work colleagues not able to get together and celebrate as normal this is a great way ‘meet up’ and have some fun. It also doesn’t matter where you are in the world either because it is all online.

“The Christmas parties will be 100 per cent fun-filled. People can laugh along with stand-up comedian Scott Bennett, who has supported Michael McIntyre and Rob Brydon, and be amazed by the tricks of award-winning magician Joel Dickinson.

“In preparation for the parties I’ve invested in a state-of-the-art broadcast studio to deliver a truly professional experience.”

He added: “We’ve all felt the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. I saw 95 per cent of my bookings cancelled and I know I am not alone in being hard hit. Virtual parties are the ‘new normal’ for now and I’m looking forward to getting back to business.”
