Home Bargains opens new store after £6m investment

Home Bargains is set to open the doors to its new store in Droitwich on Saturday following a £6m investment which sees the creation of 75 jobs.

In total, the store on Roman Way Retail Park will employ 83 staff, including some staff and management who will be transferring from other stores.

It will also be donating £2,000 to the local charity, Droitwich Community Pantry & Fridge, which provides food parcels for homeless and vulnerable individuals, and families across Droitwich, using surplus and rescued food from supermarkets, shops, manufacturers, wholesalers and distribution centres across Worcestershire.

The new Droitwich store will join over 500 outlets across the UK as the retailer pushes ahead with its strategy to open around 50 stores a year.

Jack Jelicic, the Droitwich store manager, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our new store in Droitwich this Saturday and look forward to welcoming customers through its doors.”

The 24,509 sq ft store, which is a new unit built on the site of a former Homebase store, is adjacent to Aldi and DFS.

The new store will also come with its own garden centre – GardenWorld at Home Bargains.
