Construction firm appoints insurance broker as it eyes further growth

Insurance brokerage Gallagher has been appointed as the broker for Yardley Wood-headquartered construction firm J A Burke Construction, to support the business with its insurance and risk management programme as it eyes further growth following several contract wins.

Founded in 1994, J A Burke Construction is a full service sub-contractor for groundworks, civil engineering and construction projects.

The family-run firm works with several of the UK’s largest construction companies, including Morgan Sindall, Speller Metcalfe and Willmott Dixon, across both commercial and residential projects.

With offices in Birmingham, Coventry and Brierley Hill, Gallagher has a significant presence in the West Midlands, employing over 400 risk and insurance specialists.

Richard Grosvenor, sales director, Gallagher, said: “As a UK community broker, we are embedded in the local areas we serve as a trusted advisor. Our expertise across a broad range of industries, as well as our regional knowledge affords us excellent insight into the risks and challenges affecting local businesses, so we can offer bespoke insurance and risk solutions.

“We’re proud to be supporting a business which has had a longstanding presence in the West Midlands, and we look forward to being part of J A Burke Construction’s journey over the coming years.”

Jim Burke, managing director, J A Burke Construction, said: “We were looking to engage the support of a quality broker who could keep us up to speed with everything that we needed to know in the highly technical construction insurance sector. The team at Gallagher took time to scrutinise our existing cover to ensure that there were no gaps in cover that we were not aware of, and were able to negotiate us a better deal that saw our cover increase.

“At J A Burke Construction, we are all about teamwork, and it is great to have Gallagher as part of our business advice team from now on.”
