Energy switching platform powers up with new director

Small business energy switching platform, Tickd, has appointed James Villarreal as a Board Director.

Villarreal previously co-founded Glide Utilities.

Richard Price, managing director of Tickd said “James has very much ‘been there and got the t-shirt’.

“After dropping out of university, he co-founded a business and raised initial investment from a standing start that went on to be recognised as one of the fastest growing companies in the UK. In more recent years, he guided it through two acquisitions – the most recent of these, being in April 2020.

“Bringing James on board is a real coup for Tickd; he’s somebody I’ve worked closely with in the past and really buys in to our vision of helping small business owners be better served in the energy market.”

Tickd aims to simplify the energy switching process for small businesses, providing a fully-digital energy comparison and switching journey that allows small business customers to go online, compare and switch their energy in just 90 seconds.

Villarreal said: “Tickd is extremely exciting and I’m delighted to be involved. The solutions out there for small businesses to switch their energy are very much in need of a shake-up. With a management team I know well and the expertise and backing of ENSEK, Tickd are in a great position to provide the solution that the market has been crying out for. Tickd also offer a SaaS model, providing the digital sign up journey for energy suppliers, or white labelled energy comparison services for energy brokers and consultants.

The firm is part of the ENSEK group, an innovative software company specialising in the energy sector.
