Homes sold for nearly £3m from sale of Victorian conversion in Edgbaston

Seven luxury homes developed from what was originally a Victorian property in Edgbaston have been sold for nearly £3m in total.

Davidson Estates has completed on the deals for the two one-bedroomed and four two-bedroomed apartments, along with one two-bedroom townhouse in Ferndale House on the Calthorpe Estate.

Ben Davidson, director of Edgbaston-based Davidson Estates, which has a branch office in the city centre, said: “The Ferndale House development was a luxurious Victorian conversion comprising of seven high specification units which saw the perfect combination of traditional and modern design and materials.

“This was a great opportunity for buyers wanting to live or invest in such a highly sought-after area which is within walking distance of Edgbaston Village’s leisure and lifestyle amenities, a range of ‘outstanding’ nurseries and schools, while being close to the city and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

“The apartments and town house sympathetically reflected the historic architecture of the period and this proved really popular with the growing market for professionals wishing to live in premier homes that are close to award-winning places to eat, drink and relax, and within easy access to Birmingham and the transport network.”

Ferndale House was a joint project between Calthorpe Estates and Tag Urban Properties, a company experienced at renovating historical buildings.

Simon Tate, director at Tag Urban Properties, said: “Ferndale House offered the perfect opportunity for us to work alongside Calthorpe Estates and transform a stunning period property into seven luxury apartments in a beautiful, landscaped setting close to Edgbaston Village.”

Tim Abbotts, a director at Calthorpe Estates, said: “Ferndale House is another step in Calthorpe Estates’ ambitious vision to create thriving communities in Edgbaston, with a choice of homes and attractive amenities where people wish to live, work and relax. We are very pleased with the property conversion and the successful sale of these apartments by Davidson Estates.”
