Start-up software developer and manufacturer open sites in Telford

Start-up software development company Urbansoftech and Stoke-on-Trent-based manufacturer Midway have opened sites in Telford.

Urbansoftech is a start-up software development company that has registered in the UK from Croatia.

It has ambitious plans for growth and is focusing on empowering live audience dependent industries such as the conference, sports, entertainment and hospitality sectors to restart through a mobile access approval service.

Urbansoftech  has opened at the E-Innovation Centre at the University of Wolverhampton Telford Campus.

Working with Telford & Wrekin Council’s business support team, Tim Luft, CEO of Virtual Reality Simulation Systems, helped introduce Urbansoftech to the benefits of moving to Telford.

Urbansoftech MD Antun Šunjić said:  “With the help of Tim Luft and the team at Telford & Wrekin Council our arrival and setting up in Telford has gone smoothly, meaning we can focus now on growing our business quickly.  The support available, the central location and skilled workforce are just some of the reasons for our decision to grow our business here.”

Meanwhile, Midway has opened a new site in Telford on Hortonwood.

Specialising in high-tech electrical and mechanical assembly the company is aiming to recruit around 20-30 staff in the next 18 months.

With the help of the council’s business support team, Midway secured a grant for almost £60,000 from the current European Funding Programme.

Midway MD Phil Harper said:  “The assistance of Telford & Wrekin Council has been invaluable and they have moved quickly to identify and help us secure grant funding that will make a real difference to our business growth.  Telford’s importance as a centre for high value advanced manufacturing and access to supply chain has made it the obvious choice for our expansion.”

Cllr David Wright, Telford & Wrekin cabinet member for economy, housing, transport and infrastructure, said: “We are delighted to welcome Midway and Urbansoftech to Telford and their arrival is great news given all the challenges that are facing businesses at the moment. We are pleased that through our business supporting approach we have been able to help them with landing support and look forward to helping them further to establish and grow their businesses in Telford.”
