Fuel management firm reveals plans to create 50 jobs

Birmingham-based The Fuel Store, which operates in the fuel card industry, wants to create 50 jobs over the next five years, it has revealed.

The Birmingham firm, founded by husband and wife duo, Jamie and Mehma Bridgen, celebrates its five year anniversary this March and has plans to increase its reach, covering two-thirds of UK fuel stations.

The firm has increased its headcount from 11 to over 30 employees in the past 24 months.

Jamie Bridgen, managing director of The Fuel Store said: “It’s been an incredible journey and I’m proud of what we have achieved so far. We have shaken up an outdated industry, delivering integrity through transparency, with an obsession for exceeding our customers’ expectations. And this is just the beginning. We have some exciting developments in the pipeline that will see us push the fuel card industry even further.”

The company says it will expand its network by adding new branded cards as well as increasing fuel volumes by more than 70% year on year for the next three years. With the ESSO card planned for release in the first half of 2021, The Fuel Store is also looking to diversify their customer base by boosting its presence in inner-city locations.

Peter Bridgen, non-executive director of The Fuel Store, said: “It’s great to see a business which differentiates itself and puts customers first.

“What sets The Fuel Store apart from the other suppliers is the emphasis they place on building customer partnerships, understanding customers requirements and delivering services that match those requirements.

“With a focus on customer experience and innovative solutions, it is going to be exciting to follow what’s next for The Fuel Store.”
