Region’s cultural venues awarded more than £32m of Government cash

More than £32m has been awarded to a number of key cultural venues in the West Midlands in the latest round of funding, building on £78m already awarded from the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund to organisations in the region.

Cultural venues in the West Midlands set to receive funding include the 125 year-old Grade II listed Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, to receive £568,357 helping it to reopen and offer small scale, socially distanced events, build audience confidence to attend live events, host produced performances and to return to community engagement activities.

Hartlebury Castle is an example of local heritage benefiting from these awards. Grade I listed, an award of £82,900 in addition to the grant received in Round one, will help it adapt to encourage more people to visit the grounds.

Local cinemas are also amongst those who will receive £514,407 (full list below).

The Mockingbird Cinema, which is the only independent cinema in Birmingham, has been awarded £54,150 to help its reopening plans with community partners and supporting new talent.
