BAM Construct UK has been awarded the main contract on a £13m project to rebuild Stafford College following a fire there three years ago.
Large parts of the workshops have been unusable since an electrical fire in April 2008 destroyed the upper part of the building, which used to house courses including motor vehicle maintenance, plumbing, construction, brickwork and carpentry.
The Hertfordshire company is briefed with delivering a new landmark building on the site of the former workshops which have been demolished along with the old print room, classrooms and former library damaged in the same fire.
The scheme is due for completion next summer and will provide kitchens for hospitality students as well as new premises for the campus restaurant run by students.
There will also be a beauty salon open to the public, a learning resource centre with a library and information facilities and external landscaping.
BAM Construct UK says it has delivered campus projects worth £1.8bn in the last five years, including Newcastle-under-Lyme College, Wolverhampton Interchange and Stourbridge College which is due for completion shortly.
