Green light for 320,000 sq ft distribution hub

Tritax Symmetry has been granted planning permission for the first phase of its 320,000 sq ft Symmetry Park in Rugby.

Permission has been granted by Rugby Borough Council for two new logistics/distribution facilities measuring 186,000 sq ft and 134,000 sq ft. The permission also includes all off site highway infrastructure and a new marketing suite dedicated for future occupiers.
Both units will be built to net zero carbon.

Comprising 111 acres, Symmetry Park has an outline planning permission to deliver up to 2 million sq ft of logistics floor space.

Joseph Skinner, associate development director at Tritax Symmetry, said: “Rugby is a highly desirable location for distribution and manufacturing companies and, with high quality stock at an all-time low the intention is to speculatively develop the two consented buildings alongside the site wide infrastructure. The upfront delivery of the site-wide strategic infrastructure also allows us to quickly respond to design and build requirements ranging from 100,000 sq ft up to 1 million sq ft.”

“We will be appointing a contractor in the coming months with construction due to commence this year which means the buildings will be ready to occupy in 2022.”

The project team includes SGP Architects, Framptons acting as planning consultants and Tier Consult and Stantec as infrastructure specialists.

Colliers International, Avison Young and M1 Agency have been appointed as marketing agents for Symmetry Park.
