New hotel complex plans revealed for Birmingham

An new hotel complex could be on the way to Birmingham after plans were lodged with the city council.

The unnamed developer wants to demolish Wolverley House and Smithfield House in Digbeth to build two new buildings for a hotel-led scheme that would see a 175-bed development built, including a new restaurant, and a 12-storey building that would be used as an 80-bed aparthotel.

The scheme, which lies on the edge of the huge Smithfield regeneration area, would include ground floor commecial space and a rooftop bar and terraces for guest and the public to use.

Dexter Moren has been appointed as architect on the scheme.
