Award-winning Birmingham restaurant set to open doors to lockdown heroes

A Birmingham restaurant preparing to reopen after lockdown is offering a free exclusive dining experience to thank the “unsung superstars” who have helped others through the pandemic.

Award-winning Thai restaurant Zen Metro is offering 10 community heroes and a guest the chance to enjoy a newly launched three-course Bottomless Brunch, with wine or Prosecco available during Friday and Saturday lunchtimes.

The restaurant, on Cornwall Street, is initially reopening its doors on Monday, May 17, and the special ‘thank you’ event will take place later, once restrictions allow.

Jaimon George, managing director, said: “As we emerge out of lockdown and open our doors again to our wonderful customers, we wanted to do something special for those who have done special things for others. Of course, this means the people working on the frontline of the NHS, but it also means plenty of others.

“Maybe they don’t think they’re special at all and consider they’ve just been getting on with a job – caring for other people or keeping them safe.

“Perhaps they’ve given up their own time at the heart of a community to achieve remarkable things with their kindness.

“Whoever they are, we want to say a special thank you for all these people who have gone above and beyond.”

George said he hoped the special dining experience would be able to be held in June.

He urged anyone who knows of someone who deserves a treat to nominate them on the website before the end of May.

Bookings for post-May 17 are also now open on the website.
