Electrical firm switches on with new TV studio completion

Cannock-based TNA Electrical has completed a £1.4m mechanical, electrical and public health project for the Versa Studios in Leeds.

The company has played a key part of the transformation of the former Polestar Petty Printwork site situated just outside the city centre.

Once standing derelict as industrial units, later this year the 22,000 sqft site it will open as Versa Studios, where Channel 4 will be filmed, amongst other productions.

Principal contractor ISS Property inctructed TNA for the work which involved designing the mechanical, electrical and public health systems for four studios, along with support areas comprising toilets, rest rooms, make-up rooms, shower rooms and workshops.

Chris Hodson, principal contractor at ISS Property, said: “This 20-week programme ran really smoothly and the team at TNA completed the final fix to a high standard. They were great to work with, rolled their sleeves up and got on with the job in hand. It was the first time we had used them and it won’t be the last.”

Andy Jones, TNA managing director, said: “Following testing and commissioning, we were delighted to hand over the job in such a seamless fashion – it was a privilege to be involved in such a prestigious project, we were pleased to use a solid team of 30 engineers made up of TNA staff and which was supplemented with local labour from Leeds and the surrounding areas.”
