Birmingham businesses urged to spring into action for BID Community Games

Businesses in Birmingham will once again be able to put their athletic prowess to the test as Colmore BID announces the return of its Community Games this summer.

Taking place on Friday 18 June at its new home in the grounds of St Philip’s Cathedral, Colmore BID’s Community Games will see businesses compete in a range of sporting activities in the hope of being crowned the 2021 Community Games Champion.

Teams must be made up of at least four individuals and no sporting experience is required.. Entry into the games is £40 per team, with all money raised going to support Birmingham Food Banks.

The sporting events for this year’s games include Blindfold Egg and Spoon, 3-legged Race, Sack Race, Relay, Dodgeball, Tug of War and 4 Lane Bungee Run.

Launched in 2012 to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Community Games has seen more than 40 businesses compete over the years, raising nearly £5,000 for charity.

Michele Wilby, CEO of Colmore BID, said: “The Community Games have become a staple event in Colmore BID’s events calendar and one that was greatly missed last year.

“The games certainly bring out the competitive nature of our businesses, but they also raise vital funds for charity, which this year is Birmingham’s Food Banks. After working from home for the past 12 months, it will be great to see people come together and support each other once more.”
