A bar and restaurant has opened in Coventry this month at the newly named Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Anecdote has already been packed out for the return of live sport to the arena, and for a capacity-crowd screening of some of August’s big sporting events, such as the final match of the British & Irish Lions tour and the finals day of cricket’s Hundred.

Ten widescreen TVs – including a wall-sized screen – provide the background entertainment for the interactive games around the venue, including shuffleboard and a giant foosball table.

There are also booths with personal screens so fans can choose what sports channel to watch.

The bar’s beer range includes choices from local brewery Purity, as well as favourites such as Beavertown Neck Oil.

To celebrate a packed September of sporting events such as the Ryder Cup, new NFL season and the return of Gallagher Premiership Rugby, from Monday, August 30 to Friday, September 3, The Anecdote will be offering a 50% discount across its food menu.

Amy Burgess, general manager at The Anecdote, said: “It has been great to see people visiting the bar over the last month, but now we’re ready to ramp up our operations.

“We’ve enjoyed some great days and nights already here at The Anecdote, and the bar is already realising its potential as a social hub here in Coventry.

“Eating and drinking is no longer about grabbing a pint and a plate, people want it to be an experience, and we believe everyone who visits The Anecdote will come away thinking they have experienced something new.

“The interactive games we have around the bar have proved a huge hit, we hope that in the weeks, months and years to come people make some incredible memories here at The Anecdote.”
