People: Partner hire for law firm; Several appointments and promotions at accountancy firm; and more

A specialist divorce and family lawyer with more than 20 years experience has joined law firm FBC Manby Bowdler.

Claire Darley has been appointed as a partner in the family team.

FBC Manby Bowdler managing director Neil Lloyd said Darley’s experience would further develop the team which operates from bases across Shropshire, the West Midlands and Worcestershire.

“Claire brings with her a number of years’ experience in family law and a reputation for dealing with complex financial issues, including cases where clients have interests overseas. She is a qualified mediator and is adept at helping families to talk, whether about financial or child arrangements.

“With Claire joining our team, we are set to continue to develop and grow our stellar service to clients.”

Darley, who is also known for her expertise in assisting family businesses to preserve their assets, has chaired the Family Law Committee of Birmingham Law Society for 10 years.

She said: “With separation and divorce rates rising, there is now, more than ever, difficult and sensitive cases that need the dedicated care and attention to reach a resolution, particularly when children or assets are involved.”

An accountancy firm has recruited six new members of staff and promoted three key seniors across various divisions following a period of growth.

The new team members at Prime Accountants Group, which has offices in Solihull, Birmingham and Coventry, will play a key role in supporting the company’s rapidly-expanding client portfolio.

Kelly Henderson, Luke Hall, Haleemah Razaq, John Carter, Adiba Rauf and Shehla Parveen join Prime from a range of financial backgrounds.

Kevin Johns, managing director at Prime, said: “We constantly aim to strengthen and expand our team and are delighted to make this a priority once again, following a challenging year where we paused our usual recruitment to prioritise the safety of our current team.

“While we have recruited a small number of new staff members over the past year, we are pleased to have welcomed six new members in the last two months alone.

“They have all settled into our team well and we are delighted to have them join the Prime family.

“We are excited for the months ahead and hope to continue our growth and welcome more new faces to the team.”

In addition to the new hires, the business has made three senior promotions.

Kieran Allen and Joe Laird, who joined Prime as trainees in 2015 and 2017 respectively, have been appointed as audit and accounts manager and audit and accounts senior.

Tom Branson, who joined the business in 2017, has also been promoted to an accounts manager.

Cazenove Capital, the wealth management businesses which is part of the Schroders Group, has recruited a further three experienced advisers, adding to its growing regional presence.

Craig Jones and Omar Iqbal join in Birmingham, and Rhys Twomey in Bristol.

Jones joins the Birmingham office as a portfolio director and brings over 30 years’ experience of managing high-net-worth clients at HSBC Private Bank where he advised entrepreneurs, business owners and their families on strategic planning and investment management.

Iqbal joins the Birmingham team as a wealth planning director. He has 10 years’ experience of advising high-net-worth clients and their families on various areas of their finances, including retirement planning, estate planning and tax restructuring. He joins from Barclays Wealth, and previously worked at Duncan Lawrie Private Banking and BDO.
