People: Bank appoints investment specialist to board; CBRE hires strategic development director; and more

Wesleyan, the financial services mutual for doctors, dentists and teachers, has appointed Anna Troup to its board of directors.

Troup has more than 20 years experience in financial services including roles in asset management and investment banking, research and management.

Her most recent executive role was head of UK bespoke solutions at Legal & General Investment Management. Prior to that, she spent three years as a portfolio manager at BlueBay Asset Management after working for more than a decade at Goldman Sachs.

She currently sits on the boards of Charles Stanley Group plc, the Aberdeen Diversified Income and Growth Trust, MS Amlin Investment Management, The Pension Protection Fund and T Bailey Fund Services.

CBRE has appointed Louise Wyman as executive director, strategic development.

She will be based in the firm’s Birmingham office, with a UK-wide remit.

Wyman was most recently strategic director growth and development at Manchester City Council, where she was responsible for leading Manchester’s commercial property, housing, planning and regeneration teams, as well as teams focused on inward investment, skills building and delivering inclusive growth.

Previously, she was director of strategy and engagement at Homes England and part of the team that established the Government’s housing agency in 2018.

While at Homes England, Wyman was seconded to the West Midlands Combined Authority to lead on design and development initiatives, including launching the West Midlands Design Charter with Mayor Andy Street, aimed at raising the quality and sustainability of the built environment across the West Midlands region.

She is a chartered surveyor and a landscape architect who led urban renewal and regeneration projects in the Czech Republic and USA early in her career. She’s a former member of the Planning Committee for London Legacy Development Corporation with responsibility for developing London’s 2012 Olympic Park. She was also a founding Director of Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, delivering a new Garden City in North Kent.

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Paul Wood to lead its Black Country and Staffordshire branch.

Wood has more than 40 years of experience in manufacturing, distribution and investment businesses. He is founder and board member of three businesses that specialise in tax allowances. Working alongside his son, he manages a team of ten and works with top ten accountants and quoted companies.

He said: “I feel privileged to take on the role of branch chair for this diverse and exciting business community. I want to pass on my experience to help other individuals and I can’t think of a better place to do this than within the IoD. It’s not been the easiest time for anyone leading an organisation but I look forward to the challenges ahead and believe that we are stronger together.”

Inez Brown, chair of IoD West Midlands, added: “We are delighted that Paul has agreed to chair our active Black Country and Staffordshire branch. He will be the standard bearer for local directors, providing support and inspiration as we provide members with the tools to not just recover and rebuild but prosper.”
