Preferred contractor announced for multimillion-pound leisure scheme

Warwick District Council has picked Kier as the preferred contractor for a major leisure scheme.

Following last month’s approval by the planning committee for the multimillion-pound redevelopment of Abbey Fields Swimming Pool and Castle Farm Recreation Centre, the authority has contractor chosen Kier for the second stage of the procurement process prior to final agreement for construction.

Warwick District Council’s Liam Bartlett said: “We’re really excited to be working with Kier, who have a strong track-record nationally for high quality, low carbon leisure projects. Their submission was outstanding, and we are confident that they can bring with them their impressive eco-credentials and expertise in their field.

“In addition, it’s important that we prepare for the closure of the facilities early next year by making alternative arrangements with local sports providers for tennis and basketball and other indoor sports details of which will be announced next month.”
