Bathroom supplier installs electric car charging points

Bathroom supplier HiB has installed electric charging stations at its Inspire House Distribution site to help reduce the company’s carbon footprint.

Three new chargers have been installed in the car park at Birch Coppice Business Park in Tamworth, allowing up to six electric vehicles to be charged simultaneously.

Transport manager Craig Turner said: “Having these installed by E-ON Drive will allow us to provide all staff members with the means to charge their vehicles on site. We currently have five fully electric vehicles within our fleet, with more on order and five plug in hybrids. When the additional vehicles arrive, 33% of the company cars in our fleet will be fully electric and able to benefit from the new chargers. The number of electric vehicles we use is something we are looking to increase in the future and developing our facilities to accommodate that switch to more environmentally friendly power is high in our CSR strategy.”

The new floor standing charging posts are designed to fit all electric vehicles and are the latest in a series of investments the company has made to improve sustainability and reduce its impact on the environment.

Operations director Neil Berry said: “A part of our vision is to make a substantial difference to our people, partners and the world we live in. This means making sure that we are doing our bit to reduce our carbon footprint, become more sustainable and help the environment. It is fantastic to have these new charging stations installed at Inspire House, not only because it will benefit those that have an electric vehicle now, but it also means that we have the infrastructure in place as our electric fleet grows.”
