Clearwater International advises on sale of £200m turnover community equipment specialist

Clearwater International has advised Medequip, the UK’s largest provider of community equipment, on its sale to Medux, an umbrella organisation for a group of companies and brands specialising in medical equipment for healthcare organisations and private individuals.

Medequip is the UK’s market leading provider of community equipment and complementary services to local authorities and the National Health Service (NHS). Medequip’s services enable individuals to live independently at home for longer, alleviating pressures on the NHS and other healthcare services. Located in Harmondsworth, close to Heathrow Airport, and with turnover of over £200m, Medequip employs more than 1,000 people.

Medux operates in the medical equipment industry and specialises in providing management, maintenance and logistics of medical equipment for healthcare organisations and private individuals. The organisation has a turnover exceeding €385m and includes companies and brands such as HartingBank, Medipoint and Atlas Kidtech.

The Clearwater International team comprised managing partner Michael Reeves, partner David Weavers, director and international head of healthcare Ramesh Jassal, director Karen Edwards, associate director Mike Slater and associate Rory Crossen.

Weavers said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with the Siddall family and the management team of Medequip. Medux has committed to further investment which will benefit the company and its various stakeholders. We wish both companies every success for the future.”

Jassal added: “We have enjoyed supporting the shareholders and management of Medequip in delivering this transaction. Medux and Medequip have very similar characteristics and the combined group will release significant procurement and supplier synergies. Medequip will allow Medux to accelerate its growth in supplying and fulfilling government contracts for simple and complex aids outside the Netherlands.”
