Pottery giant’s HQ gets a revamp

A Midlands-based interior design consultancy has transformed part of the headquarters of listed homewares pottery maker Portmeirion Group.

Office Principles has created the new work environment over 9,047 sq ft at the group’s London Road premises in Stoke-on-Trent.

Portmeirion – which owns brands including Spode, Royal Worcester, Pimpernel, Wax Lyrical and Nambė – has made a significant investment in the refurbishment of its headquarters as part of a wider brand refresh.

The project has delivered flexible facilities for Portmeirion’s 550 head office staff as the business moves to a hybrid working model.

Gary Tailby, joint managing director, Office Principles North, said: “Businesses are acutely aware that employees’ expectations have changed due to COVID-19. The office is no longer just a place to work in, it’s a destination that is collaborative and creative, and focused on our wellbeing. We’ve adapted existing office space to provide a workplace that reflects Portmeiron’s proud heritage and its culture. It delivers a great work life experience for Portmeiron’s people and will allow them to thrive through new, agile ways of working.”

Mike Raybould, CEO Portmeirion Group, said: “Office Principles has taken our brief to modernise our office space to create a modern, inspirational and flexible work space for our employees, with our brands at its core, and what they’ve created is transformational. It will change how our teams work and collaborate, and quite literally puts our brands at the heart of everything we do.”
