Payment solutions company dials up growth for telecoms arm with latest acquisition

Crewe-based Radius Payment Solutions has acquired Air Telecom Group, based in Solihull and one of the region’s largest telecommunications providers, in a deal that will add almost 20,000 customers to its telecom arm Radius Connect.

Established in 2009 in Solihull and led by group chief executive Manni Sehmi, Air Telecom is a specialist in integrated mobile, hosted telephony and connectivity solutions for small and medium-sized businesses.

It is the second major acquisition for Radius in recent months since it bought a majority stake in Dublin-based Telcom in December.

One of several strategic company purchases made in recent years, the latest investment will also give Radius new opportunities to grow the range of services it offers to customers including telecoms fuel cards, telematics, insurance and electric vehicles.

Radius chief executive Bill Holmes said: “We are really pleased to be working with Manni Sehmi who has built a great telecoms business with an outstanding reputation. We look forward to helping him grow further and overlay the great range of products and services that Radius has been developing over the last few years.”

Radius Connect, a converged technology, mobile and fixed line telecommunications provider works with businesses across the UK, implementing, connecting and managing their operations.

“From my first meeting with Bill and the team, I felt that our culture and vision were a perfect match. I am confident that by partnering with Radius, we can continue our growth strategy and assist our customers in leveraging technology to stay ahead of their competitors,” Sehmi said.

Radius is headquartered in Crewe. It has more than 2,000 employees across 18 countries and more than 20 offices in UK and Ireland and the UK and an annual turnover of more than £2.6bn
