Wine bar raises a glass to Paradise Birmingham launch

A wine bar is set to launch in Birmingham city centre this summer with work now underway on the latest addition to Paradise.

The opening marks Vinoteca’s seventh site and its first venture outside of London.

As well as a wine list featuring more than 200 bins from across the world, the 4,500 sq ft restaurant will serve seasonal British dishes using locally sourced produce, with a weekly set lunch menu designed especially for Birmingham by the venue’s head chef.

For guests looking to take away the Vinoteca experience, an on-site wine shop means new flavours and grape varieties can be discovered at home.

The 150-cover space is thought to be Birmingham’s largest wine bar set across a ground and mezzanine floor, and an outdoor terrace with 40 seats.

Vinoteca was founded by Brett Woonton and Charlie Young.

Young said: “Birmingham has always been onto something new, and with such a unique and diverse food scene, we felt this was the perfect setting for our first regional site.

“We hope to add to the city’s existing love and appreciation of wine, by offering our own perspective for guests who are looking to try something different. Our wine list has been carefully designed to tell the stories of producers, vineyards and regions from around the globe, but we also want to celebrate the quality of local suppliers through our accompanying food and drink menus.

“We’re excited to announce more details ahead of the launch and look forward to becoming part of such a thriving community in the coming months.”
