People: Land and property company welcomes deputy chairman; Eight move up the ladder at law firm; and more

Ken Lever has been appointed to the board of Henley-in-Arden-based Rainier Developments as deputy chairman.

In a career spanning more than five decades, he brings with him a wealth of experience in executive and non-executive roles across a varied range of sectors, with a particular background in financial management.

He is currently chairman of the UK’s largest independent integrated waste management company Biffa, as well as global consultancy firm RPS Group, while he is also non-executive director of automotive retailer Vertu Motors.

He said: “I am really pleased to be joining Rainer, which is a business that has already seen tremendous growth in such a short space of time.

“Under the stewardship of Richard Mees and his team, Rainier has developed a strong reputation in the sector and is now regarded as a market leader in property and land development, so I am really looking forward to helping to continue this trajectory.”

The Birmingham office of law firm Bevan Brittan is celebrating the promotion of eight of its lawyers and the arrival of its latest senior hire.

The octet of promotions at the firm’s Temple Row base in the city include one partner, a legal director, three senior associates and a further trio of associates covering a range of the firm’s teams.

And even more positive news for Bevan Brittan’s Midlands team comes with the recruitment of regulatory litigation specialist Louise Mansfield, who joins as a legal director.

Promotions in Birmingham include Health, Care and Regulatory expert Julia Jones, who becomes a partner, and property lawyer Colin Frowd, who becomes a legal director.

Raj Kang (Clinical Negligence), Sam Minchin (Health, Care & Regulatory) and Rosie Tabrizi (Commercial) are all promoted to senior associate while clinical negligence lawyer Davinder Baird and property duo Tom Kearney and Aman Guru become associates.

Mansfield moves across the city centre to join Bevan Brittan from Pinsent Mason bringing her experience in litigation, advisory and regulatory law to the firm’s Midlands team.

She advises on a range of issues including health and safety, regulatory breaches, building safety, fire safety, product liability food safety and transport, with experience in construction, care, energy, chemicals, waste, entertainment, utilities, retail and charity sectors.

Albert’s Schloss Birmingham has announced the appointment of a sales and events manager.

Sophie Cassidy has joined the Mission Mars group after two roles at The New World Trading Company.

She completed a number of work placements while at university including a role as a researcher and administrator at Aston Villa Football Club, marketing assistant at Adidas HQ and sales account executive at Drayton Manor Theme Park.

Her career in the hospitality sector continued to grow with a two-year stint as sales manager at The Canal House in Birmingham, a venue within The New World Trading Company.

She said: “I’m really excited to join Albert’s Schloss Birmingham. I have followed the Mission Mars group for a while and it feels like a real career highlight to be a part of their team. My aim is to bring a lively personality and “can do” attitude to the role, and I’m looking forward to showcasing the very best entertainment and events that Birmingham has to offer.”
