Coventry housing development taking shape

A new housing development is beginning to take shape in Coventry ahead of its official launch to coincide with the Platinum Jubilee.

Bellway South Midlands is building 40 houses at its Jubilee Green development off Watery Lane, Keresley.

The site forms part of the Keresley Sustainable Urban Extension which is planned to deliver 3,100 homes on the outskirts of the city.

The Bellway development will comprise 30 private properties, as well as 10 affordable homes available for local people through shared ownership or rent.

Building work is progressing at the four-acre site and the first homes are due to be released for sale in June.

Elaine Brown, head of sales for Bellway South Midlands, said: “This development is part of Keresley Sustainable Urban Extension, an initiative put forward by Coventry City Council to help meet the increasing demand for housing in this area.

“Jubilee Green is set in a desirable location just three miles north of the city centre and is therefore well situated for Coventry commuters, as well as those travelling to Birmingham, Northampton or London, with train services from Coventry train station just four miles from home.

“The development will feature a mix of three and four-bedroom properties for sale, making the site ideal for families and young couples, who will be able to make use of Jubilee Green’s proximity to well-regarded schools for children of all ages within walking distance.

“The thriving city centre of Coventry offers residents here an array of activities and amenities, including the Lower Precinct Shopping Centre, which features a range of popular high street outlets.

“Meanwhile, Jubilee Green also provides excellent access to open space, with the site bordering Keresley Jubilee Wood, which features over seven acres of native trees planted to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2012.

“We look forward to welcoming the first visitors to the site and to overseeing our part of what is a modern and forward-thinking extension to available housing in Coventry.”
