Birmingham wholesaler sold out of administration

All jobs have been protected through the acquisition of Birmingham Innovations, a DIY, gardening and home improvement wholesaler.

Sold out of administration to GMA Solutions, the Birmingham-based firm had faced increasing costs during and since the pandemic which had squeezed margins.

The firm, which works with major retailers such as Amazon, B&Q, Cult Beauty and Selfridges, also suffered a significant issue with the supply of damaged stock.

DIY, gardening and home improvement wholesaler, Birmingham Innovations, has been sold out of administration to GMA Solutions, safeguarding all jobs.

Mark Malone and Gareth Prince of Begbies Traynor in Birmingham were appointed as joint administrators on 6th September and presided over the immediate sale of the business and its assets.

Commenting on the sale, Mark Malone, partner at Begbies Traynor, said: “Following the significant impact of rising costs on the company, various options were considered but it became necessary to pursue the only course of action that would safeguard jobs and preserve an ongoing business.

“This is a positive outcome from a difficult situation and will ensure continuity of supply for an established customer base and minimum disruption to their operations. We wish the new owners every success as they move forwards with the business.”
