Occupiers sought for Jewellery Quarter apartment scheme

Forty apartments to rent in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter have been brought to the market.

On behalf of Urban Splash Residential Fund, Davidson Estates has been appointed to let a choice of one and two bedroom, fully furnished apartments at Derwent House, a Grade II listed building.

Ben Davidson, managing director of Davidson Estates, said: “Derwent House now boasts a collection of 40 stunning one- and two-bedroom fully furnished duplex apartments which have been developed to the highest standard.

“Taking inspiration from the building’s history and nostalgia, many original features remain such as exposed brickwork and steel support girders.”

Derwent House is just off St Paul’s Square and a few minutes walk from the city centre and the central business district.

Davidson added: “Modern elements have already been considered such as the inclusion of instant boiling hot water taps to the kitchens, floor-to-ceiling Crittall windows and state-of-the-art underfloor heating.”

The development also offers on-site storage facilities available to rent additionally and a limited amount of on-site secure parking spaces.

The building can trace its history back to the company Taylor and Challen which was founded by Joseph Taylor in 1852. Over a 70 year period, the business produced metal working machinery, including presses for the metal trade throughout the Jewellery Quarter. Many of their machines are still to be found in workshops in the area.
