Cornwall Care, a registered charity was advised by Mills & Reeve on the transaction which has now secured high-quality care for many care home residents across the South West of England. More than 1,000 people currently use the charity’s services across 16 homes with 645 beds.

It has been purchased by Sanctuary, one of the largest not-for-profit housing associations in England and Scotland and the second largest not-for-profit care provider through its ‘Sanctuary Care’ business.

Cornwall Council said: “Our key aspiration throughout this process has been to further secure Cornwall’s care market, ensuring that people are able to stay in their homes, as well as allowing more investment and improvement at these sites. We look forward to the development of these plans.”

Julian Smith, Head of Independent Sector Health, led the transaction for Mills & Reeve along with Head of Charities, Neil Burton, and principal associate, Paul Krivosic.

Smith said: “We were delighted to help make this deal happen. A huge number of talented and committed people across teams from Cornwall, the Midlands and beyond have helped to secure the future of a provider which cares for over 1,000 residents and we wish them all the best.”
