A Leeds-headquartered facilities management company which operates across Yorkshire and the North West has been acquired by a national provider of facility and property-related services.

Airedale Maintenance Services Limited (AMS), which specialises in maintenance in the commercial and retail sectors, has been sold to Midlands-based Trios Group Limited for an undisclosed sum.

The deal enables AMS’s founding shareholders Jamie and Mark Nelson to exit the business while enabling geographic and turnover growth for Trios.

The corporate finance team at MHA Moore and Smalley advised the shareholders of AMS on the sale to Trios.

Jamie Nelson, director of Airedale Maintenance Services Limited, said: “We’ve been on a great journey over the last 20 plus years, working with a fantastic team and client base.

“We’re pleased to have secured a bright future for the company and clients who will now benefit from being looked after by a larger national player with significant infrastructure and resources.”

Rob Barling, chief executive officer of Trios, said: “We’re pleased to welcome AMS’s clients into the Trios family. They can look forward to the same high standards of facilities management support to which they are accustomed, as well as benefiting from the many other property-related services we can offer.”

The deal team at MHA Moore and Smalley was led by corporate finance associate director Robert Holgate and corporate finance manager Sam Singleton.

Holgate said: “We’re proud to have supported Jamie and Mark to help them get this deal over the line. After more than two decades in the business, they leave it in a great place where it will benefit from new investment and expertise as part of Trios.”

AMS was founded in 2000 and undertakes mechanical and electrical maintenance services for a wide range of clients primarily in the commercial and retail sectors.

With over 300 staff, Trios is a national provider of facility and property-related services, with experience in the public and private property sectors, including commercial, health, distribution, leisure and retail markets.

It has offices in Gloucestershire, Birmingham and Leeds and its clients include West Midlands Police, Ladbrokes Coral, Royal Mail, Boots, Rowlands Pharmacy and Stonegate.

AMS was advised on the legal aspects of the deal by Sandra Crichton and Sam Durling of Ramsdens Solicitors. The buyer was advised by Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP.
