Martin Guest

CBRE has appointed Martin Guest as UK head of public sector.

Guest has worked at CBRE for more than 25 years, most recently as managing director for Midlands & South. Prior to that he was head of the firm’s Birmingham office for 16 years.

As managing director of the Midlands & South region, Guest was responsible for the overall management, strategic direction and growth of the business across CBRE’s offices in Birmingham, Bristol and Southampton, overseeing a team of 150 staff.

In his new role, Guest will lead a team of public sector experts across the UK to further capitalise on the opportunities the sector presents.

Tom Morris will take over as the new managing director for the Midlands & South region. Morris has worked at CBRE for almost 15 years, most recently as head of the Bristol office.

Guest said: “I’m really excited to start the next chapter in my CBRE career and I’m looking forward to the challenge this new national role brings.

“I have enjoyed many years working in Birmingham and whilst I will be traveling around the UK a lot more in my new role, the city will remain my main base, from which I will be working with colleagues across the business to grow our public sector services.

“I have worked with Tom during my time as managing director of Midlands & South and I know he’s the right person to succeed me in the role.”

DM & Co. Homes Lisa Smith and Sophie Gwynne

Solihull’s independent estate agent DM & Co. Homes has recruited a valuations manager as it gears up for a busy start to 2023.

Sophie Gwynne brings 14 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge of the property industry to the company which covers Solihull, Knowle, Dorridge, Lapworth, Tanworth-in-Arden and the surrounding areas.

DM & Co. Homes has offices in Solihull, and Dorridge where Sophie is now based.

She said: “I’m so excited to be joining one of the best forward thinking estate agents in the local area. DM & Co. sold more than £140 million worth of property last year, with 90% of these achieving over the asking price”.

Lisa Smith, sales director at DM & Co. Homes said: “Sophie has gained experience across the board, including working for a local independent estate agent and developers such as Seven Capital in Birmingham, where she was responsible for selling property off-plan. She is already building valuable relationships with our clients.”

Birmingham-based disputes and compliance law firm Tenet who specialise in fraud and financial crime has recently expanded, welcoming three new team members.

The time had come to widen the team which has seen strong organic growth since starting out in 2016.

Hayley Watkin

Adding more support on making the firm function with the daily fun of administration is new recruit Hayley Watkin. Since starting in September Watkin has played an important role in ensuring cases progress efficiently and on time, providing clients with customer care and the team with the resources needed to meet deadlines.

Victoria Hatton

Victoria Hatton came from a specialist firm in London where she was a senior associate to lead and develop international work, arbitration and bring in her in depth knowledge of shipping. Tenet say that Hatton has been phenomenal getting results in Court already and helping on two international cases which look to be moving to arbitration.

Kirthi Kalyan

The firm welcomed Kirthi Kalyan who joined from a commercial law firm in Guernsey where she was a managing associate and specialised in financial services regulatory, civil fraud and dispute resolution work. Kalyan will help to develop and lead off-shore and financial services work, bringing in her experience from her time at a global law firm in South Africa where she was a dispute resolution and investigations associate.
