Love at first sight is all in the eyes

FINDING love this Valentine’s Day could be as simple as looking at the closeness of a suitor’s eyes, a report from laser eye specialist Ultralase suggests.

The study revealed that aside from words, people are most likely to use a person’s eyes to read their inner-most thoughts and feelings above posture, hand movements and complexion.

Ultralase enlisted personologists (professional eye readers) Naomi Tickle and Richard Phelan to examine what subtleties the naked eye can communicate when people ditch their glasses and how this can help when searching for a perfect partner.

According to the experts, the best way to find a compatible partner is to assess the shape of their eyes, eyebrows and eyelids.

Jon Hughes, a director of Ultralase, said: “The meanings of certain eye traits are well known, for example, people with sparkling eyes can be viewed as flirtatious or mischievous. But we thought it would be interesting to investigate what else people’s eyes can tell us especially when it comes to the more subtle factors.

“While the study is intended as a bit of fun there has been much research conducted around personology. If you are showing off your eyes this year by ditching the glasses or contacts then it makes sense to at least understand what we could unwittingly be communicating to people, no matter how subtle.”
