Irwin Mitchell in Birmingham has recruited five senior tax lawyers.

The latest move by Irwin Mitchell adds two partners and three senior associates to the firm’s Corporate & Finance team which is headed up nationally by Simon Owen.

Moving from Knights where she was partner, Kate Featherstone will lead the tax team at Irwin Mitchell and will be based in the firm’s Birmingham office. She is joined by her three senior associates from Knights – Jade Edgar, James Arnold and Eve Williams.

Featherstone is experienced in a range of corporate transactions and specialises in the tax aspects of domestic and cross-border M&A. Acting for a range of clients from start-ups to listed companies, she advises private equity funds; designs and implements employee incentive arrangements; and provides real estate tax advice for estate investments and development matters.

Also based in Birmingham, Jennie Newton joins Irwin Mitchell with more than 20 years of tax experience gained from working at firms including Eversheds and Pinsent Masons.

She advises individuals, partnerships and corporates on the personal and business tax implications of their property transactions. She is also a member of the Stamp Taxes Practitioners Group.

The latest appointment takes the total number of qualified tax experts at Irwin Mitchell to 90.

Forresters has announced the promotion of four patent attorneys, including two new partners and two new senior associates.

Charlotte Sunderland and Jagvir Purewal have been promoted to partner, bringing the total number of partners at Forresters to 23.

Kate Selwyn and Ryan Mitchell have been promoted to senior associate.

Sunderland and Mitchell are based in the Forresters office in London and Selwyn is in the Birmingham office. All three are members of the life sciences team and joined Forresters as trainees.

Purewal is based in the Birmingham office and is part of the technology and engineering team. He joined Forresters in 2012.

Meriden-based creative communications agency RBH has bolstered its senior leadership team with the appointment of Joe Hepburn to its board.

The agency, which was founded in 1995, enjoyed a record year in 2022, winning a raft of new clients including Flybe, Bullring & Grand Central, LCP Group and Coventry University.

Delivering a range of services including creative, brand, digital, PR and social media these wins add to its extensive client portfolio which also includes Wacoal, Birmingham Airport, Jaguar Land Rover, Cameron Homes and JTL Group.

Hepburn joined RBH in 2018 and has developed a unique insight, research and innovation proposition as well as real-time campaign performance and ROI reporting which allows the agency to respond to clients with fully informed, strategic campaigns. He also helped transform trend analysis to inform real content, providing agency clients with real-time understanding of their industry, which was of particular importance during the pandemic.

He joins founding partners Debra Hepburn and Tim Rees as well as partners Rob Drewry, Natalie Griffiths, James Hodges, Fizz Bingham, Rebecca Williams and Michael Vines who make up the senior leadership team.

Together, they are focused on leading the 55 strong team and delivering on the agency’s ambitious growth plans for the year.
