Work starts on 23-storey Lancaster Wharf scheme

Construction work has started at Affinity Living Lancaster Wharf, a waterside 23-story scheme in Birmingham brought forward by Select Property.

The residence on Princip Street will create 266 one and two bedroom apartments once building work completes in 2025.

Contractor Torsion has now started works to introduce the foundational piling following months of demolition and stabilisation works, including extensive repair works to the canal wall and reinforcements to protect neighbouring sites.

Once complete, Affinity Living Lancaster Wharf will become the fifth property in the Affinity Living by Select Property brand, and its first in Birmingham.

Adam Price, CEO of Select Property, said: “Breaking ground on Affinity Living Lancaster Wharf puts us one step closer to truly redefining the city’s rental market, by providing a community oriented  residence designed to bring together ambitious young professionals to thrive under one roof.

“We’re bringing the winning formula of a resident-centric experience that we’ve created operating our four current Affinity Living residences to Birmingham. The brand’s focus on building resident communities, nurturing wellbeing, and creating beautiful and inspirational spaces, is loved by our residents – as shown by our market leading occupancy rates.

“And we’re bringing our new residence forward at such an exciting time for Birmingham, which is riding the legacy of an amazing Commonwealth Games last year, while preparing for new opportunities from HS2.”

The scheme has been designed by Corstorphine + Wright Architects.
