Roof rack and top box business hits the road to growth with bigger premises

A move to new headquarters and the launch of a website is helping Worcestershire-based Browns Outdoors take its roof rack and top box business nationwide.

Commercial property agents John Truslove helped Stefan Brown and his family-run business relocate to bigger offices on the Harris Business Park in rural Stoke Prior.

He said: “The offices are great – they present a really attractive face to the public when they come to collect their goods.”

The move means a big shift in gear for the business, which specialises in the high-end Thule range of roof bars, bike racks, roof boxes and rooftop tents, and follows a period of rapid growth.

“We’ve only been going three years,” said Brown, who runs the business with help of his police officer wife.

“I was selling photocopiers when Covid hit and found myself furloughed. I started out fitting towbars and then branched out into top boxes and racking.

“By the time Covid was over, I decided to pursue the business full time. We started off with some small offices on Saxon Business Park in Bromsgrove but started looking for bigger, more prominent premises.

“I spotted this unit on Harris Business Park and got in touch with the agents John Truslove.”

Ben Truslove arranged a two-year tenancy deal for Browns Outdoors to take 460 sq ft of ground floor office space at Unit A2 on the Harris Business Park, in Stoke Prior, Bromsgrove.

He said: “It is always very satisfying to help a fledgling business take the next step on its journey. This was an important move for Brown Outdoors and sets them on the right track for further growth.

“This is what we do, matching the right tenants with the right premises and the right landlords in deals that benefit all the parties. It is part of the reason why we have built a reputation as this area’s leading commercial property agency.”
