Teaching supply agency doubles space in Birmingham

Growing teaching supply agency TeacherActive has doubled its floorspace in Birmingham.

The recruitment specialist has moved into the 10,000 sq ft fifth floor at Interchange Place on Edmund Street as it looks to increase staff numbers at its Birmingham HQ from 65 to nearly 100 over the next two years.

David Freeth, chief financial officer at TeacherActive, said: “We had outgrown our previous 5,000 sq ft HQ across the road at 158 Edmund Street.

“Our new office provides a much improved and modern space.”

KWB acted on behalf of TeacherActive to acquire the space and agree terms, and was also the fit-out consultant responsible for the modern office design, which includes a street café, separate kitchen, board rooms, training room, meetings rooms and media room for video creation and editing.

KWB’s cleaning arm, KWB Corporate Cleaning, has also won the company’s cleaning contract following a competitive tender.

Malcolm Jones, head of office agency at KWB, added “With my colleagues Adrian Southall, of KWB Workplace, and Jim Duffy of KWB Corporate Cleaning, we have delivered an end-to-end solution for TeacherActive and look forward to seeing them flourish in their new headquarters.

“Interchange Place offers TeacherActive’s staff and clients excellent accessibility with local transport on the doorstep, as well as a high profile setting in the Colmore BID alongside other major businesses.”

TeacherActive is one of the UK’s largest independent educational recruitment agencies with offices in England and Wales. It expects to create up to 75 jobs around its office network due to the additional central head office jobs created.
