Big wheel planned for city centre this winter
Broadgate in Coventry is set to be home to a big wheel this winter as part of the city’s Christmas offer.
The wheel will be open to both adults and children to ride throughout the day and into the evening. Market stalls selling a range of festive food, drinks and gifts will also be in place in Broadgate and Upper Precinct.
Supplied by The Giant Wheel Company, the wheel is more than 100ft at its highest point.
Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, deputy leader at Coventry City Council said: “We are delighted to announce another magical Christmas offer for the residents of Coventry and visitors to our city. Our popular Christmas Markets are set to return alongside the big wheel.
“The big wheel is a family friendly activity that is suitable for all ages and everyone can get involved. Tickets will be available for adults and children and there will be a family ticket which is great value.”
If planning permission is approved, the wheel and markets will open to the public on Saturday 18 November and will be in place until Sunday 7 January. The wheel will operate every day from 11am – 10pm except Christmas Day.
The city’s Christmas offer is being delivered by Coventry City Council in partnership with Visit Coventry and Coventry BID.
More details about the big wheel, including admission prices, will be announced soon.
