Historic biscuit baker to create 250 jobs

Elkes Biscuits is set to create 250 jobs over the next six months, a move which will increase its current workforce by more than 50%
The Uttoxeter-based factory was saved alongside 500 jobs in February 2022, after it was sold by 2 Sisters Food Group to Bernard Matthews owner Boparan for an undisclosed sum. Boparan owns a number of food production and high street names including Carluccios, Giraffe and Ed’s Easy Diner.
Founded in 1908, Elkes Biscuits manufactures a range of products like bourbon creams, digestives and custard creams for retailers.
British Baker says that following new ownership, the firm invested £1m in new equipment, which has increased its production capacity as well as seeing sales revenue rise.
110 jobs are available now for operational and managerial roles, with the remaining roles to be filled early next year following further investments.
