Scrap yard blaze treated as arson attack

A scrap yard fire in Tipton is suspected to be the result of an arson attack according to West Midlands Police.

More than 40 firefighters attended the blaze on George Henry Road on Wednesday morning, alongside eight fire engines, one brigade response vehicle, and two hydraulic platforms.

The blaze at the EnableLink scrap yard destroyed more than 1,000 tons of scrap metal and took several days to put out by crews.

Now police have confirmed that the blaze is suspected to be arson, with the force asking for anyone with information to contact them directly.
