CMA to investigate acquisition of manufacturer

The Competition and Markets Authority is investigating the acquisition of a ventilation manufacturer, following suspicions that the merging firm has ceased to be distinct.

Northampton-headquartered Lindab UK is owned by parent group Lindab International AB a leading ventilation company in Europe, which acquired Wombourne-based HAS-Vent Holdings to merge the two businesses together.

Now the CMA says it has reasonable grounds for suspecting that it is or may be the case that Lindab UK has ceased to be distinct.

It’s delving into whether the merger has resulted in a substantial lessening of competition in any UK market.

On Companies House, it’s recorded that Lindab UK is an active director of the Metal Gutter Manufacturers Association, a not-for-profit organisation registered in Suffolk.

HAS-Vent employed 105 staff last year and recorded a gross profit of £8.12m.
